Get Rich in Network Marketing? You're Kidding... Right?

Sure! The guy said all I have to do is buy his business startup kit, place an advertisement in my local newspaper, then wait for the calls to start coming in. I'll have more orders than I can possibly fill and I'll make a lot of money and if I can teach ten people how to do the same thing, I'll be rich beyond my own imagination.

Has anyone ever approached you in this or a like fashion? Most likely they have at one time or another. Or at one time or another you have approached someone with your own program who has been burned by some shrewd operator who calls himself or herself a Network or Multi-Level Marketer. Don't you just want to take words like that and shove them down the throat of the person who operates like that? It happens all the time, not as much now as several years ago but it does happen. So how do we combat something that was created by someone else many years ago but still rips at the very heart of our industry? I've found a way that works for me and it may just work for you.

When I approach someone who thinks Network Marketing is a get-rich-quick scheme or a total ripoff, I don't even attempt to try to convert their thoughts simply by talking to them. That's how the whole problem started. I show them, personally how Network Marketing is supposed to work. It's very easy actually and it can pay great dividends in the future. Particularly if I have the "gut feeling" that the person is driven by success or has shown success in other business ventures or endeavors. Here's how I do it...

First I tell them that I do not want to sell them anything or try to recruit them into Network Marketing. If they want to be recruited they'll let me know at some point in the process. However, I do tell them that my objective is to clear the name of Network Marketing and get some guidance on how I'm presenting my program to people. And at this point, above all, that is my objective. They may not even be interested in what I have to offer but if all they have seen is the negative side... what is there to lose? If I just walk away without doing something they can hurt me in the long run. If he/she is ever involved in a conversation and they have been burned... they'll certainly tell people and that will turn people off even to the prospect of getting involved in a Network marketing venture. Bad news always travels faster than good news... that's for sure!

Here's what I say: "I understand. I wonder if you will do me a favor? You have already experienced the negative part of Network Marketing, would you look my presentation over and give me your thoughts? Particularly how you feel when the presentation is over, whether it leaves you with a negative feeling or positive or neutral. I don't want to say anything to anyone that would lead them to think I'm being untruthful or anything and I want to make sure that what I'm saying or showing is legitimate and believable. I want to help stop the bad press about Network Marketing and you could really help me."

Now... by doing this you have accomplished three things. First, you have opened their mind. Second you have exposed them to your opportunity. Third, you have helped to overcome the stigma surrounding Network Marketing.

The objective is not to recruit them. If they like what they see, they'll tell you and you won't have to go into the attack mode. More than anything else, if you do it right, and your motive is right you'll at least get them to acknowledge that Network Marketing can be a legitimate business. Furthermore, they won't be tearing down business and the next person that approaches them or someone they know will be more successful.

The process is short and simple. It will not work in every situation but it will work more times than not. Maybe it will work for you.
