The network marketing business is a business of numbers. You have to contact a lot of people and tell them about your product, tell them about your business opportunity. You have to keep doing it, day after day, consistently. What kind of people you contact is not nearly so important as how many people you contact.
To be successful in network marketing you need to dive right in and start contacting people. You may not have all the answers about all the products. You may not have developed a perfectly worded presentation. But you can't let that stop you, or you'll never get started. Those kinds of things will come with experience. Maybe the first ten presentations you do on your own will be a little shaky and will not yield any results. But you'll get valuable experience and you'll start learning what works and what doesn't. You'll soon develop a feel for the business and a feel for talking to people about it.
The more people you talk to, the more comfortable you'll feel about doing it. As you gain experience, you'll be better able to handle objections and rejections, and you'll learn to use them to your benefit.
You should never pre-judge people when deciding who to contact. If you have some connection with someone, or even if you don't, you need to contact them and tell them about your products and about your business.
The only way you can maintain this kind of effort is to have complete confidence in your products, your company and your opportunity. Now, I'm not talking about a false confidence based on a motivational meeting that gets you all fired up. The confidence must come from within. You must truly believe in your heart that you have a valuable product and a valuable opportunity. Furthermore, you must be sincerely willing to help other people.
When you have something of value to offer, combined with the sincere desire to help others, it is a powerful combination. It enables you to speak from the heart with confidence and effectiveness. It helps you go get past rejections and go right on to the next person on your list. It gives you the internal motivation needed to produce the sustained, consistent effort that will build your business.
