Your Downline, Your Success

Wouldn't it be great if everyone who joined your Network was already prepared to take on the world? Well, maybe it would. But I don't think so; not for me. I take great joy in 'proving' that Network Marketing is a viable alternative to traditional marketing techniques. This takes a tremendous effort, but it has paid off.

The common perception seems to be that the more people you sponsor in the shortest possible time, the faster your bank account will grow. By examining a progression chart, this is true. But nothing works according to a progression chart.

In fact, it is far better, according to my experience, to sponsor just a few new associates at a time. Not more than ten a month. In this way, I am able to spend a lot of time with each of them, making sure they understand the company, the concept, and the products. I like to spend a good portion of that time learning about the persons goals and expectations. Then, together, we'll map out a plan for their success. Mapping is easy, and if applied, will guarantee your success by creating the finest downline available. Conversely, signing up people simply to earn the greatest amount of money in the shortest time only creates a shaky and uncertain downline. That's not what you need for long-term success in this industry.

I find that one of the most powerful aspects to my recruiting presentation is my willingness to listen to the needs, ambitions, and goals of the prospect. I'll sit down with a yellow legal pad, and write down what they say, be it money or health or family. I then help the prospect break down the goal into manageable and reasonable sub-goals, and immediately give advice on the attainment of the first sub-goal. Later, after I've seen the person achieve the bulk of their goal, I'll give them my notes. It's pure joy to watch their face as they realize, full force, that over time they've done exactly what they said they would.

For example, Julia tells me that she wants to earn $1000 extra every month.

I ask her, "In what time frame do you want to earn this money?" She replies, "Well, reasonably? Six months."

"OK," I say. "That's do-able. In order to earn that amount every month, I think you'll need four distributors who are each committed to getting four distributors. Let's start this week with getting your first distributor."

I'll then give her everything I've got, tell her everything I know, and encourage her success while pointing out the pitfalls. Once that sub-goal has been attained, I've done my job. I've empowered Julia to go out and do the same thing again, only this time by herself. She's empowered, capable, and ready. Most remarkable, she'll do the same for her downline.

Honesty is an important part of my success, I'm convinced. Working within the Network Marketing industry, I know several people who routinely make $30,000 a month. This sounds incredible, but I know my sponsor makes more than twice that amount (I don't know exactly how much). Most people, however, fall a little short of the five figure range. It's important to make sure your downline, especially the new ones, know that in order to make that kind of money, they need dedication to their company, their product, and their life. Your job, as their sponsor, should be to root out the evils of self-defeating behavior. If they want to earn that kind of money, you've got to be prepared to make sure they do. The best way to do this is with constant contact and support--you've got to encourage them to do their very best. You know they can! And by so doing, you are the very best you can be.

Successful Network Marketing is more than a method. It's the synergy of people and a product. To utilize its full potential, you've got to utilize yours. I encourage everyone, in every company, to do this. Because, taking the concept of Networking one step further, we must make sure that 'networking' is implemented in all its facets. This means first of all (and I hope this isn't a unique twist) that every sponsor must personally Network with her or his downline, then must financially network, and finally, we all must network company to company. Every company that fails due to a bad reputation is a nail in our collective coffin. By providing a viable marketing plan that enables the 'average' person to succeed, and by providing a level of integrity above that of traditional marketing methods, we're creating an unstoppable revolution.
