More advice for beginners

Neal gave a good list of advice I agree with, and will just add to it a few from my own viewpoint. Perhaps not a "veteran", but in it long enough to share some things-
- Take the time to do "due diligence" and research all the various types of MLMs and companies out there. Don't jump into a decision too quickly.
- Don't believe claims you can't substantiate yourself, believe whatever makes sense to you. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
- *Choose* your upline, be sure they are committed, knowledgeable, and honest.
- Unless you believe in the products and company, don't bother.
- Find some successful people in the company, and model what they do, but in your own way.
- Learn the basics of success, read books like "Think & Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, or Anthony Robbin's books.
- Don't be afraid to operate at a loss initially, you're investing in a business that will pay you back later. If you don't treat it like a business, it won't be a business.
- Don't be afraid to switch MLMs if you're unhappy, but only for the right reasons. In most cases, lack of success is *your* fault, not the MLM. You have to give it a lot of time.
- Finally, you have to have excitement, and a burning desire to succeed! These 2 qualities alone can make you successful if you follow the program of most any MLM.
Not a comprehensive list, just some things off the top of my head...
