The Human Factor

My name is Paul See and I am with the Mentor Network.

I want to say that I have enjoyed very much your articles in the on line publication. I agree with many of your concepts and try to practice them myself. I have only recently become involved in network marketing although I have had many friends in networks over the last 15 years. One of the major reasons I have avoided MLM is that I perceived a major weakness in the practice (not the concept).

That weakness is the failure to deal with the human factor. It seems that there are two sets of circumstances. A person tries to motivate by either hyping the heck out of their product or the opportunity to make big bucks. If a prospect or distributor doesn't respond very quickly to either hype, they will rarely ever hear from their sponsor again. This is very poor business practice and, no doubt, responsible for the high level of failure of MLM distributors.

I am a business man in my day job and I would never think of treating my vendors or customers in this manner and not expect to go broke.

I am not overlooking the obvious. You need to have a good product, competetive pricing and provide service. But, if there are 5 companies that qualify for that description, what will make people deal with you and your company.

The answer is simple. It comes down to "how do you treat people, what relationship have you built, what level of comfort does the customer have with you?" It's what my boss calls a "warm & fuzzy feeling". Having that chemistry secures, builds and retains business. Business is about 15% technical knowledge and the balance is your relaionships.

I am pleased that somebody is bringing the message to this industry. Thank you.
