Working with your friends

Being an independent network marketing distributor is the greatest job in the world!

I have discovered a really neat benefit that no one talks about much.

About 6 years ago my wife and I had our first child. Then about a year ago we had another. We started our family a little late -- we are both 39 years old now. When we became parents, all of a sudden our social life dropped to zero. As the years passed, we just kind of lost contact with the people we were close to, giving most of our attention to the children and their needs.

My network marketing business has given me a great excuse to get in touch with all these people and renew the old contacts. I'm finding that, first of all, they are very receptive to the products and opportunity. But on top of that, they too have had children and have also just kind of lost contact with everyone. They are just as thrilled as I am to renew an adult relationship.

This is something that no one talks about at opportunity meetings. But for me it is a wonderful benefit. In network marketing, you get to chose who you want to do business with, who you want to work with. You can work with your friends, and even help them to make their lives better.

Of course, I have met a lot of great new people, too. People who share my ambitions and to whom I find it easy to relate.

This has enriched my life immeasurably.

I occasionally see ads for network marketing opportunities bragging that you "never have to talk to people," "never have to go to meetings," "don't have to sell to your family and friends." I'm sure these are workable, legitimate opportunities and that there are many people making good money with them. But I feel sad that the people involved in these companies are missing one of the best benefits of the business -- the opportunity to work with their friends.

So pick up the phone and call those old friends. They'll love hearing from you and I bet they'll be real interested in what you have.
