Network marketing around the Christmas tree

By Ralph Marston

The Holiday Season is upon us. It's a time of year that many of us cherish, a time that brings back happy memories of childhood, and a time that definitely disrupts our schedules. Opportunity meetings and trainings are put on hold for a few weeks. Lots of people are traveling far from home. The routine trip to UPS becomes a 90-minute ordeal, and all the "regulars" behind the counter that know you are replaced by temporary employees who treat you like you've never shipped a package before in your whole life.

It all adds up to make you want to put your network marketing business on hold for a few weeks. But while it may not be "business as usual" during the holidays, this time of year can present some great opportunities for business building. All those parties, all the relatives, the people you meet traveling, the people standing next to you in line at the shopping mall or the post office. It's a season when you come into contact with a lot of people. And for a network marketer, that's a situation that's just ripe with opportunity.

As the the holidays approach, think about your business and your products. When you stop to consider how they can truly make a difference in people's lives, you'll develop a new enthusiasm for spreading the word to all the people you'll be coming in contact with. Just about everyone is looking for what you have. You know that. So don't be shy about giving them the opportunity to hear about it. And you don't have to come across as some kind of wild fanatic to do this. Just in the course of normal conversation, if you really pay attention, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to bring up your fantastic marketing business.

And you want to get yourself prepared for January. That's one of the busiest months for network marketers. Everyone looks at the year gone by and realizes that they're getting nowhere -- and they're ready, willing and able to find a way to turn their lives around. Opportunity meetings start filling up, sponsoring goes through the roof, response to newspaper advertising increases. And if you've been talking up your opportunity through the holidays, you're that much more in practice and ahead of the game when January hits.

So enjoy the season. Enjoy the company of family and friends. And enjoy sharing with everyone the best business in the world.
