How Much and How Fast?

How much money are you making and how fast? Perhaps these are legitimate questions. I'm sure you have heard them if you have been recruiting for any amount of time. I guess what bothers me is that a quick look at the BBS's or many publications unveil an incredible number of dubious or outright illegal "get rich quick schemes". People are getting taken to the cleaners every day. What really frosts me is that many of these crooks are describing themselves as MLM"s. This brings increasing pressure and a lack of credibility to the entire industry. If it continues to flourish, we will all suffer as a result.

I'd like to suggest that we didn't learn everything we needed to know in kindergarten. I am going to rub the tarnish off of a few ancient ideas that have one thing going for them. They are TRUE!

  1. "Get rich quick schemes" don't work. If they did, we'd all use them and there would be 260 million rich people in this country. The only people that "get rich quick" are the crooks that take advantage of a persons naive belief that somewhere out there is the ultimate scheme that does work.

  2. "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".... (too good to be true). Any reputable MLM will point out to you that you are going into BUSINESS. This means an investment of time, money and effort. To be really successful will probably take a substantial investment of all three. I have many friends who are successful in business, including the mlm business. Without exception, they are among the hardest working people I know.

  3. "There is no such thing as a free lunch." If you are being offered an opportunity where you pay a fee and do NOTHING, then you can reasonably expect to get NOTHING in return.

  4. "Buyer Beware!" This one hasn't changed since the Roman times. Don't let inflated claims, huge numbers and promises out instant returns chisel you out of your money! Step back and apply a little common sense. YOU are the person ultimately responsible to see that you don't get ripped off.

I want to close by saying that I do not mean to say that you can not make money, substantial amounts of money in MLM. I know people in a variety of MLM's that are doing so right now. (real people that I know personally, not some picture on a page of advertising.) There are many fine mlm companies out there with good products and good management. Every day they are providing people with an opportunity to build a business and realize their dreams. This is just what this country needs and I'd hate to see it washed away by a group of greedy felons.
