So you're new to network marketing. You've just joined your choice of business and are ready to go for it. But - What is the training? What will be included? How do you go about selling the opportunity to your prospects?

These were my questions two years ago when I was introduced to network marketing. I attended the opportunity meetings to find out more. The growth of my organization was slow - very slow. Even though I wasn't recruiting very many people I could see a successful future. There were advantages like starting part time (keep my job), low start-up costs, and with a vision of a future income, independent of managerial or corporate decision making.

I saw the potential for the future and had to find out how best to do business!

Most of the companies I looked at had lots of material regarding their products but not too much on "working the business." Second, there was a lack of such material at the local libraries and bookstores. By research in a few magazines, newsletters and talking to everyone I could find in networking, I discovered tools to learn the networking / multi-level business. Everyone considering this industry should study as much material as possible and 'network' with other multi-level marketers.

I have compiled a list of excellent sources of books, tapes, videos, newsletters etc. on network marketing available to anyone. There is probably many more that I haven't seen. In no particular order:

UPLINE, The Journal For Network Marketing Sales Leaders *Monthly journal of articles and information on network marketing. Each issue has a theme - past issue themes include articles on motivational , selling, and marketing strategies, as well as technology.

Another excellent resource for network marketers is KAAS Publishing, publishers of the "Big Al" books and tapes, a great generic recruiting brochure called "Are You Walking Past a Fortune" and many other practical, no-nonsense tools for networkers. They also publish the monthly "Network Trainer" magazine, which is full of great articles on things like cold calling, motivating your downline, successful direct mailing, and much more. I'm currently reading a great new book on the business, titled "Successful Network Marketing for the 21st Century." This book was written by "I'm In" subscriber and contributing writer Rod Nichols. Look for an in-depth review of this book in an upcoming issue.
