Hope you are enjoying the Holiday festivities. We've dressed the Christmas tree today and yesterday we welcomed Santa's parade to our closest "big" town (that's 50 miles away.)
In the mean time, network marketing keeps happening! So, I wanted to share some experiences I've recently had that should be of interest to most active network marketers.
Over the last several months, I've eagerly awaited my monthly downline report, always hoping that it would show some unplanned explosion in downline growth.
Most of the months, it progressed slowly, generally due to my efforts but not the efforts of those I sponsored. Then, I noticed that some that did sponsor two or three would come to a dead end. Of course, I stayed in contact with each participant and explained what I was doing, offered my personal help with presentations, two on ones, personal visits, supplying materials, etc. Still the progress appeared slow.
Then by sponsoring one more person...BOOM whole bunch of new recruits came in and promoted me to the next level of compensation. After that developed for a while, I continued to bring in new front line recruits, but again things looked like they were progressing quite slowly. This by the way caused my mood to change. I felt not as motivated seeing the slow progress from my downline. That's when I picked up the phone and called my upline to see what was happening for them. Also I reviewed the video tapes and interviews of the highly successful participants.
One such "superstar" said in his video interview that he was ready to quit several times, especially after driving all day and half the night to a meeting where no one showed up. Driving back home, he made up his mind that he was done and would find a "real" job for a change.
When such a feeling takes over you, someone suggested that you should look in the eyes of your youngest child and tell your child that you are done. That you quit and will now go look for a job that pays regularly, like everybody else has. So, when he came home in the middle of the night and looked at his youngest child sleeping in bed, he knew he could not face the thought of telling his child he quit. Next morning he got up and went out prospecting again.
Well folks, I can relate to that feeling. I've questioned myself several times in my impatience, when am I going to see those big checks. Looking at my print out so far, the compensation has been good. I am making a "living" at this. It's not spectacular but it is my primary source of income.
It's the fact that my downline is not moving at my pace that gets me "down" at times. It's not that I don't support them, I do. And my upline supports me, so I know that's not the problem. The problem I believe is endurance.
Things appeared to be going their regular "slow" pace, until last week or so. Then, something happened and...BIG BOOM ! ! ! Three individuals came into my downline and just tore the pavement apart. I've never seen so much activity in my entire network marketing career (which happens to be about eight months now). Literally, my head was spinning. These individuals took me at my word, and are doing everything I told them they could do.
They now have meetings scheduled in three neighboring states, and now I have to fit their traveling schedule into my travel calendar. Their level of sponsoring matches their enthusiasm. But their results are even more impressive.
What this tells me is that if you are consistent in your efforts, whether you see immediate or steady results is not important. What is important is to endure. Keep focused on your program and your goal, even if it feels like nothing is happening. Why? Because when that "super performer" crosses your path, you better be ready for him/her. Display the same excitement and enthusiasm you had when you first joined your program.
The next explosion may just be around the corner. Are you consistently working your program to welcome those that can significantly improve your life? The ones you sponsor, agree to be part of your group because they like your program and what you are doing with it. Do you think these new high performers would have come into my program if I was not as enthusiastic and as excited as the day I first joined?
So, if you got a solid program, stick with it! Consider yourself running a marathon. If you are in it for the long haul, the short term Ups and Downs will not affect you. Your focused goal to reach the top level of compensation will get you there, provided you do not ... ,,, ,,, ... !!!!!!!!!
Happy Holidays,
and Happy Sponsoring to All !!
